Story Worlds That Are Connected, Not Your Average Fairy Tale

Not Your Average Fairy Tale (currently a VIP and Pareton story) might be the second book to Winter’s Promise, but it is connected to five other books:

  • Protecting his Omega - Lucius & Phoenix

  • The Black Meadow Series - Kane & Cole - Winston & River

  • His Forgotten Mate - Alexis & Maverick

  • Winter Heat - Tristen & Ethan

Even though you will see a character here and there in the books, each story can be read on its own. I’ve long wanted to write Riley and Terry’s story, but the words weren’t coming. The addition of Morgan was truly a surprise to me. I wrote a thruple years ago for an anthology, and it was suitable for a short story, but if you’ve read my books, you know that I like to dig deep (sometimes too deep) into my storylines, and I think with these three, you will get that. I want to bring this story out. It will take time, but I’m committed to helping these guys find their happy ending.

Also, with this story (and maybe others in the future), I would like to write the ABOs differently, especially my omegas. You’ll notice I keep saying Riley doesn’t look like the typical omega because he’s a rare case. When I wrote Protecting His Omega, I mentioned that the world saw omegas as lesser beings and that they had to fight for their rights because (in my head) they weren’t all the same. Some seem to have more alpha traits than most, and Riley is one, but he also faces some of the same issues as any other omega when going into heat cycles, needing suppressants and an alpha (or two) to be his antidote. I won’t give it away, but I'll explain what makes him an omega and why he’s a bit different.

The same goes for the alphas as well. There are alphas, and then there are some who are more dominant in nature. They have strong pheromones and need a special suppressant. They are more physically fit, attractive, and stand out more than an alpha. I have ideas to write an alpha/alpha pairing, and who knows, a couple just might pop up in this story. I’m not closing the door on anything. They can control or mask the pheromones of an omega and even an alpha. They can impregnate omegas, female betas, and an alpha. Dominant alphas go through a rut or alpha heat. They must knot and bite their mates for the mating to be effective. There is much more to explore about a dominant alpha in Not Your Average Fairy Tale.

The title Not Your Average Fairy Tale is not just about Riley, Terry, and Morgan to me. It’s an opportunity to open many doors in this world, branching out to more stories with various pairings. I’d like to add an M/F pairing even if it is passing.

I hope this gave you some insight into my writing process and world.
