New Year, New Beginnings!
WELCOME TO 2026
May this New Year bring you all your heart desires
It’s a new year, and for 2026, I decided not to make any resolutions that I might not be able to keep. Starting at the end of 2024, I went through a serious burnout that lasted throughout 2025. I was only able to complete and publish one book, which I am very proud of. I think what contributed to my burnout was trying to work on many other projects and not finishing any of them. So this year, I am scaling back on my WIP projects. When I looked at everything I was doing, I realized I was juggling way too many things at once, plus family.
I’ve said many times that since starting school, it hasn’t been a problem, and that’s true in a sense. I managed my time well when it came to submitting my discussion board posts and responses, as well as turning in my papers. But then, when it came to my WIPs, I’d feel guilt for not dedicating more time to this project or that one. The thing is, I enjoy writing. I love that I can escape into my own head and simply write a world of my own imagination, sometimes incorporating real-life events. However, I want to work on too many at once, and I can’t do that anymore; otherwise, I’ll just repeat a cycle of writing without finishing anything. I won’t even touch on the political distractions that contributed to some of that burnout.
So 2026 will be my new beginning year. I’m going to keep pushing and set my sights on the important projects, putting the others on hold. When one WIP is complete, I’ll pull it out of storage and work on it. That said, I’m super excited about the book slated for release in March. It’s a low-angst short novel I’ve been wanting to write. I say March because I don’t yet have a title or cover in mind for it. Usually, where I would be stressed about those aspects, I’m not. Just being able to write and hear my characters guide me through their story is enough right now. If the novel is finished and edited, with a cover and title, before March, I will publish early. It will be wide off the bat, which is another thing I will be doing in 2026.
Unless it is part of a shared-world series, my books will be wide. It is something I thought about in 2025 and began implementing, starting with Taming Leo, which was sold exclusively on my website's ebook shop but is now widely available wherever books are sold. Only the paperback of Taming Leo will be sold on Amazon. But don’t forget, if you want a signed copy plus bonus swag, check out my website, paperback store.
I hope that 2026 will be a better, and more productive year, not just for me but for you as well. Be good to yourself.
Gia
