Happy Monday
Hey everyone!
Not much to report this week. I had to pause my outdoor projects because COVID made its way through the house. It skipped me, but my sinuses have been giving me trouble. Hopefully, in the coming week, we will all feel better and get started on the backyard. There's a lot we want to do to renovate the entire house, and we aren't sure how long it will take, but we aren't in a rush because we want it done right. We are starting with what we are considering small and easy. But until then, I've been heads down writing, and I'm excited to share that I'm officially back to work on the next book in the Pryde Shifter Series!
I know it's been a while. I released Bronx's Bite in 2022, and I did start working on Parker's Demon at that, which was titled Parker's Redemption...Yeah, it went through quite a few changes, and it was only in the beginning stages.
I will say this one is going to be meaty; it can't be helped with how vast the world is in my head. We're heading into the Nyxian Realm. Ancient world, no modern technology that can be seen, it has its own language, and all kinds of worldbuilding I've been dying to dig into. So think Bridgerton, British, Venice meets medieval times meets ancient Japan, China, and African influences, with magic woven through it. Even magic will be spelled magick. I love creating worlds from scratch, and this one has been living in my head for a long time. The first book was published in 2017, and I had been thinking about it even before then. Also, I'm building on the Nyxian realm by introducing a new race that is from a whole new realm, and yes, their own language and hierarchy. I think I scared myself with how much I want to include in this book, which probably added to the writer's block. I noticed the same thing happened with Claimed by Death (Valleywood), which made me step back. But now I am throwing caution to the wind, so to speak, and going for it.
Just FYI, I still plan to finish and release Claimed By Death, I just think I need to get Parker's Demon out of my head first.
Fun fact for those who don't know, when I started the Pryde Shifter series, I was deep in my Harry Potter fanfiction era. I was writing both at the same time, so some of those magical elements naturally carried over. And if you have read books 1 through 3, you may have noticed I make a few snarky comments about it as a self-jab. You will definitely see those elements woven throughout this world, because I think I'm still influenced by the magical elements of Harry Potter, the story, the world built, not the author.
Anyway, I don't have a release date for Parker's Demon yet, but my goal is an October release. I want to give myself enough time to flesh out the story, get it properly edited, and released. Is this the last book in the series? I honestly don't know. The plot and characters tell me what to do.
